New EOS Slinger counter-UAS order for Europe
Canberra-based Electro Optic Systems has announced the first sale of the maritime version of its flagship Slinger Remote Weapon System (RWS), worth approximately $53 million.
The order, placed by a European naval systems integration business and funded by an undisclosed Western European government, is for a number of EOS’s R150-based Slinger counter-Uncrewed Aerial System (UAS) RWS, configured for naval deployment. The R150s will be supplied with a range of weapon configurations, including some with 30mm cannons, and are intended to address urgent operational requirements in Europe, with delivery expected during 2025 and 2026. The order also includes spares, training and other items.
“This contract marks a significant step in the evolution of the world-leading counter-drone remote weapon system,” said Dr Andreas Schwer, EOS Group CEO. “Slinger has already proven itself in land-based operations and is now extending its role into new operational environments.
“Its first naval deployment highlights both the flexibility of the platform and the growing demand for capability across domains,” he added.
This is the largest order to date for the counter-UAS Slinger RWS and the largest ever order for an EOS naval RWS. It follows extensive and ongoing marketing and sales activity by EOS in several high-growth markets.
