Australian law enforcement agency adopts DroneShield technology
An undisclosed Australian law enforcement agency has selected Sydney-based DroneShield Ltd to deliver advanced counter-drone solutions under a contract valued at over $1 million. This sale reinforces the agency’s commitment to safeguarding public safety and national security in the face of evolving unmanned aerial threats, says the company.
This strategic procurement forms part of a broader initiative to modernise law enforcement tools and mitigate the growing risks posed by unauthorised drone activity across Australian skies, says DroneShield. The increasing accessibility of drones (or Uncrewed Aerial Systems, UASs, as Defence calls them) and their use in surveillance, disruption, and potential attacks demands rapid, intelligent, and reliable responses, the company argues.
“We’re proud to support another Australian law enforcement agency with our sovereign, AI-powered solutions,” said Oleg Vornik, CEO of DroneShield. “As drone incursions become more frequent, particularly around high-profile events and critical assets, frontline personnel need effective tools that are easy to deploy and operate. Our systems are built in Australia, for Australia’s unique operational needs.”
DroneShield says its multi-layered solution includes a mix of hand-held, on-the-move and expeditionary systems, enabling officers to detect, assess, and neutralise rogue drones with speed and precision. The DroneShield equipment will be used in a range of operational settings, including protection of critical infrastructure, major public events, sensitive facilities, and restricted airspace zones.
At the core of DroneShield’s offering is a powerful integration of AI-driven Radio Frequency (RF) sensing, deep-learning-based signal recognition, and non-kinetic countermeasures; the company explains the system is built for maximum impact with minimal complexity.
By working with an Australian-owned and operated technology provider, the agency is also reinforcing the importance of sovereign capability in national security, DroneShield adds. As Defence is recognising, locally developed and supported systems ensure rapid delivery, seamless training, and ongoing product updates tailored to a dynamic threat landscape.
This partnership also supports the Australian Government’s own Commonwealth Procurement Rules which prioritise homegrown innovation and industrial resilience in defence and security.
