DroneShield unveils first European-made C-UAS system
Sydney based DroneShield has produced its first European-made Counter‑Unmanned Aerial System (C‑UAS), marking a significant milestone in the company’s global manufacturing and supply chain strategy. DroneShield is an Australian publicly listed company but it has headquarters in Australia, the United States and the Netherlands.
The newly manufactured European system delivers the same performance and capability as DroneShield’s Australian-built systems, said the company. DroneShield provides CUAS protection, leveraging Radio Frequency (RF) sensing, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), sensor fusion, and Electronic Warfare (EW).
While the Australian-manufactured product continues to be supported by a predominantly Australian supply chain, the European manufactured product has been produced through a contract manufacturing arrangement with a primarily European supply chain, strengthening regional resilience and sovereign capability.
“This milestone reflects our commitment to supporting allied nations with locally produced, highly capable counter‑UAS systems,” said Louis Gamarra, Chief Commercial Officer of DroneShield. “Customers in Europe can now access the same trusted DroneShield technology, built with a supply chain aligned to regional industrial priorities.”
“This is just the beginning, as DroneShield expands its production capabilities into Europe. With a strong pipeline of next-generation products coming online, European customers can have confidence that these capabilities will be built and supported within the EU.”
The delivery of the pilot batch comes amid increased investment across Europe to bolster defence industrial capacity, including initiatives such as the European Union’s Readiness 2030 framework, which is focused on strengthening industrial capability and accelerating defence readiness across member states. DroneShield’s European manufacturing capability directly supports these objectives, enabling faster delivery timelines, improved supply assurance and enhanced operational alignment with European defence customers.
The announcement builds on DroneShield’s expansion into Europe, including the official opening of its European headquarters in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, says DroneShield. Together, these milestones reinforce the company’s long-term commitment to the region and its growing customer base across NATO and partner nations.
The European-produced system provides AI-powered detection of a wide variety of unmanned aerial threats across the military and civilian sectors, the company said. DroneShield expects further expansion of its European manufacturing operations to meet growing regional demand.
