DEADLINE ALERT: DSI to sponsor participation at ADSTAR

The Defence Science Institute in Melbourne will be supporting up to 10 individuals to attend DST Group’s inaugural Australian Defence Science, Technology and Research Summit (ADSTAR) summit and present their innovative research or idea to Defence personnel, industry and stakeholders. Deadline for Nominations is Friday 13 May.
The inaugural ADFSTAR will be held in Sydney from 20 to 22 July 2022. The summit brings together innovators, entrepreneurs, small business, big business, universities, industry and government to network, share ideas and help shape future collaboration.
As an ADSTAR summit partner, the Defence Science Institute will be supporting up to 10 individuals to attend the ADSTAR summit. Flights to Sydney, summit registration and accommodation will be included as part of the package as well as support with the preparation of presentation materials and pitch training.
This is a unique opportunity for those who have not previously engaged with Defence to hear from senior international scientists and Defence leaders about the challenges faced and explore concepts and technologies for prevailing in contested environments, with a central theme of RESILIENCE – the ability and capacity for human-technical systems to quickly adapt and recover from unexpected interference, disruption, adversity and threats.
Expressions of interest are invited from post graduate students and early career researchers working in a range of areas including but not limited to: artificial intelligence, human and social sciences, physical and biological sciences, data sciences and systems engineering whose research might find application in any of the following three themes:
- Resilience in contested environments
- The use of artificial intelligence
- The use ofhuman and defensive biotechnologies
Please upload your nomination (500 words maximum) no later than Friday 13th May. Successful applicants will be notified by 20th May and will be required to prepare and upload a poster presentation no later than 10th June. In order to qualify for this opportunity, you must be available to attend the summit in person, present your work at a poster session and be either an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
Eligibility requirements: Students and early career researchers who are Australian citizens or permanent residents working in Victorian and Tasmanian universities.
