Cirrus RTPS delivers ACTS to Aerodata AG
Sydney based Cirrus Real Time Processing Systems, one of Australia’s leading mission training systems developers, has announced the successful delivery of its Air Combat Officer Training System (ACOTS) to its German client, Aerodata AG.
The ACOTS training system has been developed by Cirrus to provide end to end simulation of the air mission battle-space and the operation of platform sensor, weapons, avionics and mission systems within a tactically immersive synthetic environment. It has been in operational use since 2011 at the RAAF Air Mission Training School (AMTS) for the provision of air mission training of RAAF aviators.
Under an export order of undisclosed value announced earlier this year, Cirrus has adapted ACOTS to simulate the surveillance sensors that Aerodata has fitted to airborne maritime surveillance aircraft, and has integrated ACOTS to the AeroMission suite used to manage the sensors within surveillance missions.
“We are a proud Australian company delivering sophisticated Australian developed technology to defence clients, and I am very pleased to announce the recent successful delivery of ACOTS to Aerodata’s facility in Braunschweig, Germany,” said Peter Freed, Cirrus’ Managing Director. “This has flowed from the strong cooperation between Cirrus and Aerodata in completing the simulation adaptation and integration, and confirms the quality and competitiveness on the world market of Cirrus’ ACOTS – Australian developed simulation technology.”
The Australian government’s Defence Industry Development Strategy (DIDS) recognises that exports grow the resilience of Australia’s defence industry base and industry’s capacity to support Defence, adds Freed, and this successful export underscores the industrial capabilities resident in Australia for air mission training.
Earlier this year Cirrus RTPS announced it had secured an extension to its support services subcontract with Jet Aviation Australia for ACOTS at the RAAF AMTS. The ACOTS training system has been operational since 2011 and over the intervening period it has been continually updated and evolved by Cirrus in close collaboration with AMTS instructors to provide end to end simulation of the air mission battle-space and the operation of platform sensor, weapons, avionics and mission systems within a tactically immersive synthetic environment.
